Sayyidi Syed Izhar Ashraf


Introduction

 

Sayyad Izhar Ashraf (Shaykh al-A’zam) is the eldest son of Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Sayyad Mukhtar Ashraf Rahmatullahi alayh therefore he is the present Janasheen of Astana Alia Ashrafia Hasaniya Sarkar-e-Kalan. This also means he falls in line with the many esteemed and pious Wali’s (saints) that have come through Kicchocha Shareef.

 Birth

 
Shaykh al-A’zam was born On the 6th of Muharram 1935 at Kicchocha Shareef . His arrival had been foretold by his great grandfather AlaHadrat ‘ Ashrafi Miya ‘ Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh who predicted his birth whilst on a sacred pilgrimage of Hajj.

 In accordance with the family tradition, when he attained the age of four years, four months and four days, his auspicious Bismillah khani was performed by his esteemed father Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh in very colourful and spiritual surroundings. Many pious and notable dignitaries like His Eminence Hadrat Makhdoom al-Millet Sayyadina Muhaddith al-A’zam al-Hind Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh were present.
 

Like his predecessors, he started his early education at home and then at Madrassa Ashrafiya (Kicchocha Shareef) founded by AlaHadrat ‘Ashrafi Miya Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh his great grandfather. His father, Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh took special care of his education as he was to be his Wali Ahad Janashin after him. From the very beginning of his education, he was always punctual and attentive to his studies.

 Education

 
After completing his primary education at Kicchocha Shareef, Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh sent him to Darul-Uloom Ashrafiya at Mubarakpur Azamgarh, U.P. which was also founded by Ala Hadrat ‘Ashrafi Miya’ Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh. He was sent here for the education of Dars-e Nizami. He was fully devoted to his studies, in order to gain profficiency in every subject of theology. The teachers of the Jamia  paid him special attention as he was the son of Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh.

 

Shaykh al-A’zam was awarded his Dastar-e-Fazilat and degree of Fazil-e-Nizamia in 1959. In this function many renowned personalities of Khanwada-e-Ashrafiya and other savants of Islam participated in the tying of the turban ceremony. Among the dignitaries present were His Eminence Hadrat Makhdoom al-Millet Sayyadina Muhaddith al-A’zam al-Hind Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh as well  Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh and other notable Mashaykh.

Janasheen

 Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh shared some of his extra responsibilties of the Khanqah onto Shaykh al-A’zam to lessen his burden. Shaykh al-A’zam had embarked on teaching, until he was thrust into the propagation of Silsila-e-Ashrafiya which he took to with great enthusiasm and determination. Seeing how his son adapted in his new role it became clear to Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh) that his son could probably mange on his own, so eventually Shaykh al-A’zam took full responsibilty and developed and modernised the facilities for the many visiting pilgrims. Achievements

 As well as the many new buildings and constructions that Hadrat Shaykh al-A’zam oversaw and continues to oversee, Shaykh al-A’zam still has time to spread the Message of Peace and Love of Islam to many parts of India and further. The message of Silsila-e-Ashrafiya soon spread and many militant and heretical new sects were being squeezed. Because of this spiritual enterprise Shaykh al-A’zam acquired many new mureeds from Bangladesh to as far as Europe. He is also an eloquent speaker and a notable and praiseworthy poet.

 Of his many travels Shaykh al-A’zam has visited many important shrines of respected Awliya-e-Kareem as well as completing the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj at least 3 times plus many more Ziyarats of Umrah.

Family

 He is the eldest son of Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Sayyad Mukhtar Ashraf Rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh and his own family constitutes of  3 sons ‘Quad al-Millat’ Sayyad Mehmood Ashraf (eldest), of Sayyad Muhammad Ashraf, of Sayyad Hammad Ashraf and of a daughter Sayyeda Bibi Zubaida.Mehmood Miya

‘Quaid-e-Millat’ Mawlana Sayyad Mehmood Miya is the wali ahad Janasheen (successor in waiting) of Hadrat Sarkar-e-Kalan Hasniya Ashrafiya rahmatullahi ta’ala alayh. He is the eldest son of Sayyad Izhar Ashraf Miya.

Mehmood Miya was boirn in Kicchocha Shareef in 1963. He completed his early education at  Jamia Ashrafia Izhar al-Uloom, Machipur, U.P. from there he went to Jamia Naeemia Muradabad for his higher education. He received tuition in arabic under the guidance of Mufti Mawlana Habib-Allah Sahib ‘alayhir rahman for approx 12 months. He completed his secondary, graduation and also his postgraduation at Lucknow University.

Mehmood miya has been instrumental in construction of the New Makhdoom Ashraf Hospital in Kicchocha Shareef. He is also very progressive and has the future needs of the next generation of muslims at heart, his plans include :

Introduction  

It has been the characteristics of Khanquah Ashrafia Hasania Sarkar-e-Kalan that in every period Sajjadah Nashin has been an eminent deserving personality accomplished with high education, mystical inclination, spiritual grandeur, inherited zeal and determination showing path of Shariat (Revealed Law) and Tariquat (way to Allah) Sometime Alahazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A.) adorned it up to 1355 AH devoting his whole life in making the world familiar with name and mission of Hazrat Makhdoom Simnani (R.A.) followed by Alhaz Mufti Syed Shah Mokhtar Ashraf Sajjadah Nashin (R.A.) who decorated this dignified office with his sublime spirituality for sixty-two years. Now Hazrat Maulana Syed Izhar Ashraf is the Sajjadah Nashin inheriting virtues of his ancestor and possessing extraordinary merits whose religious, spiritual and reformatory activities and works has been, internationally recognised and admired. Glad Tiding of Birth at Madina Monawwarah  

In his fourth and last Haj, Ala Hazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A) was in Madina Monawwarah with his disciples and followers. Just on 6th Moharram 1355 AH he gave glad tiding to Maulana Yunus Moradabadi and others that a grandson has been born to him. He named Izhar Ashraf before Mowejehe Aqudas predicting that name of Ashraf will spread everywhere by him. They wondered to hear, as there was no communication facility as is today. Seeing them in bewilderment, he told that Faquir did not need telegram or any thing. Here at Kichowcha Sharif, he had been named as Md. Masood Ashraf. He returned Kichowcha Sharif from Haj and changed the name as Izhar Ashraf foretelling that the name and mission of Syed Ashraf Simnani (R.A.) would be spread by him everywhere. His prediction came true and what to speak of India in abroad too he has illuminated the candle of Sultan Syed Ashraf Jahangir Simnani (R.A.).

Bismillah Khani (Beginning Reading in the Name of Allah)  

In accordance with the tradition of family, when he attained the age of four years four month and four days, his auspicious Bismillah khani was performed by his esteemed father in a very colourful and spiritual surroundings. Many dignitaries like Hazrat Syed Mohammad Mohaddis Azam Hind were present. On this occasion he paid tribute in some couplets, which were very thoughtful. This ceremony ended on Fateha khani and prayer for his perfect knowledge and bright future.

Primary Education  

As his ancestors, father and grandfather, he started his early education at home and then at Madrasa Ashrafia Kichowcha Sharif Founded by Ala Hazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A.). His father, Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A) took special care of education as he was to be his Wali Ahad Janashin and after him Sajjadah Nashin of Khanquahe Ashrafia Hasania Sarkar-e-Kalan Kichowcha Sharif. Higher Education  

After completing primary education at Kichowcha Sharif, Hazrat Makhdoomul Mashaekh sent him Darululoom Ashrafia Mubarakpur Azamgarh, U.P. founded by ALA Hazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A.), for higher education of Darse Nezamia. He devoted his full attention to his studies to gain proficiency in every subject of theology. The teachers of Jamea also paid their special attention to him as he was the son of Sajjadah Nashin of Makhdoom Ashraf Jahangir Simnani (R.A.).

Turban of Honour  

As has been the tradition in Darse Nezamia Dastare Fazilat is awarded in the annual function in which eminent personalities attend. He was awarded Dastare Fazilat and degree of Fazile Nezamia in 1959. In his Dastare Fazilat function renowned personalities of Khanwadae Ashrafia and well known savants of Islam participated and took part in tying up the turban on his head. Among the dignitaries who were present in the function were Hazrat Mohaddis Azam Hind, Hazrat Makhdoomul Mashaikh Maulana Syed Md. Mukhtar Ashraf (R.A) and many others. As was the custom he read out his written thanksgiving address acknowledging the valuable services of his father, teacher and other well wishers in his education.

Teaching Work  

He was instinctively inclined to teaching work. He first wanted to be well versed in all subjects of theology and then start the work of Makhdoom Ashraf’s mission. For this he joined Jamia Naimia without salary. He began to teach middle books of Nezamia. The students were fully satisfied with his method of teaching. But he could not continue it for long and left teaching work after one year due to unavoidable circumstances.

Assignment of Khanquah  

It is a fact that so long Hazrat Shaekhe Azam was engaged in his education, Hazrat Maulana Syed Md. Mukhtar Ashraf (R.A.) had to face the responsibilities of khanquah, cases lodged against Khanquah by the opposite party and above all prorogation of Silsila Ashrafia. Feeling his revered father’s loneliness and a number of responsibilities on his weak shoulder, he left teaching work and stepped in the practical field. With his coming in the field of propagation of Silsila Ashrafia and sharing his responsibilities with zeal and devotions, Hazrat Makhdoomul Mashaekh felt fully satisfied and his loneliness vanished. His dynamic personalities, his new way of thinking for the development of Silsila and Khanquah highly impressed his father, Sajjadah Nashin Khanquahe Ashrafia Hasania. Now he felt his hand stronger than before and burden of responsibilities lighter expressing full satisfaction with the work of Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam. He used to say, “Now Noor Chasm (Light of eye) Maulana Syed Izhar Ashraf has come in the practical field; no matter of anxiety, All is right.” Seeing his capability and sincerity, he handed over full responsibility of it to him and became free of all anxieties.

With the assignment of responsibilities of Khanquah, he wanted to bring about revolution in the Khanquah in every respect. There were many problems before him particularly cases lodged by opposite party to block the development works. In spite of those hindrances, he did not lose heart but determined to develop it facing all obstacles in the way.

Development of Khanquah  

It is true that during the period of Sajjadah Nashini of Ala Hazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A.) and Makhdoomul Mashaekh Hazrat Maulana Syed Mokthar Ashraf (R.A.) Khanquahe Ashrafia Hasania had earned distinguished position among the Khanquahs spread in different corners of India. Other Khanquahs were lacking many requisite virtue essential for it. But Khanquah Ashrafia had been a fountain of knowledge (Marfat) and Tariquat (Path) and serving the purposes laid down in the doctrines of Khanquah. Though the Khanquah looked attractive where fountain of spirituality were quenching the thirst of the seeker of truth and reality. But it lacked amenities and facilities essential in this modern age. He farmed all his planning and presented it before Hazrat Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A) who not only approved but encouraged with good wishes.

Beginning of Construction  

First of all he felt lack of rooms for the pilgrims of Urs Makhdoomi keeping in view modern trend of abode. He presented his programme before the followers of Khanquah and acquainted them with the difficulty of accommodation to a large number of pilgrims on the occasion of Urse Makhdoomi Explaining its solution, he diverted their attention to get his own room constructed in the Khanquah where they would reside themselves on the occasion of Urse Makhdoomi. This planning succeeded and rooms began to be constructed year by year. Now the Khanquah has rooms providing all facilities to the pilgrims on every occasion. There are VIP rooms constructed by VIP persons having all modern facilities. Seeing all these, Hazrat Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A.) was very glad and praised his successful planning and zeal for its completion. The development works in the Khanquah is continuing. One work is completed and another work starts. This is nothing but the result of sincerity and zeal of Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam Sahebe Sajjadah.

Founder of Jame Ashraf  

It become clear to go through the history of Khanquahe Islami in Hind and abroad that Khanquah has contributed a great deal in propagation of Islam in every period. It has kept the candle of Shariat and Tariquat burning and struggled to save it from the storm of infidelity, wrong believes and unislamic tradition. It is also a fact that only those Khanquah were regarded purposeful and useful, where there were facilities of teaching of Holy Quran, Hadith and Tafseer etc. Keeping this fundamental necessity of Khanquah in view. AlaHazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A.) established Madrasa Ashrafia in Khanquah and his son Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Ashraf wished to make it second Jame Azhar of Egypt in India naming Jame Ashraf. But his pre matured death left his dream unfulfilled.

Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam determined to fulfil the wish of his grandfather and continued waiting for proper time. He also felt the anguish and desire of Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A) for fulfilment of his father’s wish. At last, the day came and he presented full planning of Jame Ashraf before Hazrat Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A) and he happily approved it boasting his morale and showering good wishes.

Jame Ashraf came into existence  

He convened an educational convention in 1978 in Khanquahe Ashrafia Hasania and presented the programme of Jame Ashraf. The eminent dignitaries in large number from different corners participated and agreeing to his programme, promised to stand by him in the development of Jame Ashraf.

He did not wait for the construction of building for it, the teaching started in the rooms of Khanquah e Ashrafia in Shawwal 1979. The education started from Fazil class.

 
Old Building  

He got the foundation stone laid by Hazrat Alhaj Maulana Syed Mukhtar Ashraf Sajjadah Nashin next year on the occasion of Urse Makhdoomi in presence of pilgrims, followers, eminent personalities and members of Khanwadai Ashrafia. The writer was himself present on this auspicious occasion of foundation laying ceremony. It looked as if a new chapter is going to be added in the history of Khanquahe Ashrafia Hasania Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A). After Urse Makhdoomi construction work started in full swing. First floor completed in one year. It was the result of his sincerity and determination that the wish of his grandfather materialised by him so soon and Jame Ashraf came into existence. Within three years, this old building of Jame Ashraf having attached teacher’s room and hostel was completed. It has forty-two rooms. Teaching shifted from the Khanquah to this building. In fact, nothing is difficult if it done with Zeal and sincerity of purpose.

Masjid Ala Hazrat Ashrafi  

After bringing Jame Ashraf in to existence with all essential requirements needed for educational institution his second important deed is the construction of Masjide Ala Hazrat Ashrafi. Everyone knows this fact that no Islamic institution can be complete in every respect if it does not have Mosque where students may say five times prayer. Hence, he turned his attention towards its construction and presented his planning before Hazrat Makhdoomul Mashaekh (R.A.) to seek his approval and good wishes. Hearing this planning for mosque and its attribution with the name of his Shaikh and grandfather, Ala Hazrat Ashrafi Mian, (R.A.) he was extremely glad. He got the foundation led by him in 1984 on the occasion of Urse Makhdoomi. It was beyond one’s imagination that such a huge mosque will be completed so soon. No announcement any where and no appeal for contribution; he only had full confidence on the grace of Allah and blessings of Khwaja Hindal Wali resulting automatic response from his disciples. It is spacious having the capacity of accommodation of one thousand prayers at a time and presenting the scene of Madina Monawwarah in the Khanquah Ashrafia Sarkar-e-Kalan ( R.A.). With the completion of this grand mosque, this couplet of Allamah Jami (R.A.) is fit on his deeds.

“Khusha Masjido Madrasa Khanquahe
Ke Dar Wai Bowad Quilo Quale Mohammad.”

Meaning: what a good that Masjid, Madrasa and Khanquah
where conversation of Prophet Mohammad (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) takes place.

Maulana Ahmad Ashraf Hall  

Third important and historic deed of Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam is the construction of Maulana Ahmad Ashraf Hall, which is the masterpiece of all construction works done by him. He thought that no Madrasa can be deemed well developed having all modern facilities if it does not have an spacious hall where different types of educational functional take place. As usual, he presented its planning before Hazrat Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A.). He felt so much joy with this important planning that it can’t be expressed in words. At once, he handed over fifty thousand rupees and asked to start the work. Being encouraged with his good wishes, he got the foundation stone laid by him in 1987 on the occasion of Urse Makhdoomi in presence of large number of pilgrims and followers. One wondered to see this great project and his enthusiasm to get it constructed utilising all resources as early as possible. The map and design is attractive and exquisite that one can not help praising the skills of Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam. This is not only a simple hall but it is multipurpose building housing Mukhtar Ashraf Library, Ashraf Hussain Museum, Research rooms and other small rooms. No sooner the pilgrims enters into the Khanquah than this huge building attracts the attention. If I say that only this, Maulana Ahmad Ashraf Hall, is enough to perpetuate his name as founder of Jame Ashraf and Sajjadah Nashin of Khanquahe Ashrafia Hasania couldnt be wrong.

Mukhtar Ashraf Library  

One is aware with this fact that no educational institute is complete without library. Hence he made its hall and rooms on the first floor in the life of Hazrat Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A). He attributed it with the name of his father. Though Hazrat Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A) could not see it well furnished but he donated his library at home to Mukhtar Ashraf Library. Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam is leaving no stone unturned to furnish it with books on all subjects and languages. Book of lacs have already been purchased from this country and abroad. Many educationists of university have visited it and left his impression praising his taste for library and his endeavour to make great library providing all facilities for research scholars and persons fond of studying books on different topics.

Ashraf Hussain Museum  

He has made a museum in the name of Syed Shah Ashraf Hussain (R.A.) who was the elder brother and Shaikh of Ala Hazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A.). This museum has Taburrukat of ancestor of Khanwadai Ashrafia and day by day it is increasing. It is also an splendid deed of Shaikh-e-Azam.

Sanjida Family Quarters  

He has made Sanjida family quarters for the teachers of Jame Ashraf to reside in with their family. It is equipped with all facilities. It is double storied.

Noorul Ain Park  

Noorul Ain Park is a wonderful creation of his mind, which is in front of Maulana Ahmad Ashraf Hall, Jame Ashraf and Ala Hazrat Ashrafi mosque adding beauty and charming to these buildings. The fountain, 10X10 reservoir and grassy road all around with tubelights fixed on every point attract the visitors of the Khanquah and madarsa.

New Hostel of Jame Ashraf  

With the growing number of students in Jame Ashraf, he felt the need of a large hostel to accommodate more than three hundred students. He himself laid foundation stone of this hostel in 2000 as Hazrat Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A) was no more in this world. It is double storied comprising forty-two rooms with bathrooms and latrines. The foundation laying ceremony held after Urs prayer in spiritual surrounding. He laid foundation stone followed by Wali Ahad Janab Maulana Syed Mahmood Ashraf and other dignitaries. No fund in hand but the planning of huge hostel is extraordinary faith on the blessing of Khwaja Hindalwali. The ceremony ended with this couplet on his tongue and eyes filled with tears.

“Bahaquque Khwaja-e-Osmane Haroon
Madad Kun yaa Moinuddin Chishti”

 

New Dural Hadis of Jame Ashraf  

He laid the foundation stone of New Darul Hadis on the occasion of Urse Makhdoomi in 2002 AD as old building of Jame Ashraf became insufficient to accommodate the growing number of students. It is double storied comprising 18 rooms having the capacity for 100 students to sit and read in each room.

Shaikh-e-Azam as Sajjadah Nashin  

It has been tradition in Khanquah that after the death of Sajjadah Nashin, Wali Ahad Janashin attains this sublime post. Hazrat Alhaj Maulana syed Shah Mukhtar Ashraf (R.A.) left his world on 21st November 1996. His Fateha chehlum was organised in Maulana Ahmad Ashraf Hall on first January 1997 in which eminent Mashikh, Olmas (learned man) members of khanwadai Ashrafia and large number of followers from India and abroad participated. The turban of Sajjadah Nashini was wrapped on his head and as a custom, family members presented Nazr (gift) to him. This was the legal announcement of his Sajjadah Nashini. A written draft was made and Mashaikh, Olmas and family members put their signature on it. He remained as Wali Ahad Janashin for forty-seven years. It is a fact that after one year of Sajjadah Nashini, he had to face internal problems with courage and determination. Quade Millat Janab Maulana Syed Mahmood Ashraf as a Wali Ahad Janashin faced all these conditions with patience and farsightedness defeating the conspiracy made against Sajjadah Nashin of Khanquah Ashrafia Hasania Sarkar-e-Kalan (R.A).

Religious Services  

There are some Khanquah in this country where Sajjadah Nashin remains confined in the campus of his khanquah throughout his life; but Khanquahe Ashrafia Hasania is not so. Its Sajjadah Nashin serves the religion, Islam and propagates the mission of Aulia (Friends of Allah) in different corner of the country and abroad. Religious and Khanquahi mission of Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam starts from 1960 AD. Feeling the loneliness of his father, he came to the field taking the flag of Makhdoom Ashraf’s mission in hand. It is a historical fact that the time he started journey for the propagation of Silsala Ashrafia and to Safeguard the doctrine of Shariat and Tariquat from wrong beliefs and customs, Sunniat and Deobandiat were face to face resulting a great tumult in the country. In this tumultious condition, he first started his reformatory journey from Purnia where Deobandiat had taken most of area in its grip. He entered in the field alone with full determination to rootout the Deobandiat from this area. Wherever he went, large gathering assembled to hear him. They were so impressed with his spiritual speech that they renunciated Deobandiat and came in the fold of Ashrafiat in large numbers. Facing difficulties of communication, lodging and fooding, he continued his mission as a result of which large area like Baisi; Bahadurganj, Kishanganj, Thakurganj, Sonapur, Islampur, Nakshalbari came in the fold of Ashrafiat. He conquered these areas upto 1970.

Now the area of his religious services and mission of Makhdoom Simnani (R.A) is not confined in one state or two rather it has spread in every corner of the country and abroad like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and European countries like England, Holland and France etc. Now he has become an international personality and large numbers of disciples are everywhere. As predicted by Ala Hazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A.), he has been spreading the name and mission of Sultan Syed Ashraf Jahangir Simnani ( R.A) everywhere.

Haj and Visit of Sacred Places  

It becomes quite clear from the study of history of mysticism that Auliae Keram (Friends of Allah) have travelled much to the sacred places and obtained spiritual bounty from there. In this difficult journey, they pass from forest, mountains, deserts and rivers facing great trouble in the way. Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam too like his ancestors has been paying visit to different Shrines of Aulia and sacred places in India and abroad. There is no shrine of any Wali (Friend of Allah) where he did not go and receive bounty. He is instinctively inclined to pay visit to holy places.

Haj and Omra  

He has performed three or four Haj and many Omras.

Eloquence (Khetab)  

It is undeniable fact that eloquence is his hereditary asset. His grandfather, Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Ashraf (R.A) was an eloquent speaker of his time. The eloquence of Hazrat Shaikh Azam has glimpse of him. His speech has singularity, effectiveness and full of thought and meaning. He explains the delicate points of the Quran and Hadith so vividly engrossed in excessive passion of prophet that the listeners remain spell bound. As soon as he ends spiritual speech, audience in large number rushes to him to be his disciple renunciating wrong beliefs. It can be said without any fear of contradiction that his thoughtful and meaningful speech has brought thousands of astrayed persons on right path. When he sits on the chair of eloquence with Taj (crown) and spiritual cloak, everyone.

Character and Behavior  

Character is an important factor of human being. Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam is the embodiment of good and noble character and behavior. He meets with every one with love and sincerity. He values those who are sincere and faithful. He has soft corner in his heart for distressed and oppressed persons. His heart melts to see anyone in hardships. He is very strict to his principle. If any one deviates from his principle, he askes him to change himself and come on right path. If he gets angry on any matter, within minutes his anger vanishes. He has a soft heart and does not have grudge against any one. If any one commits mistake and seeks his pardon, he forgives at once. He is very hospitable. He is generous and no one returns empty handed from his door. He does never want to hoard money. Whatever he earns, he spends for the development of Khanquah and Jame Ashraf.

He is true follower of his father. He does never take pride of his deeds rather he deems its credit to the good wishes of Hazrat Sarkar-e-Kalan ( R.A.) It is his sincerity and sanctity of character that every one is attracted to him.

Poetic Composition  

The art of poetry is his hereditary. He has deep interest in it. A compilation of his Nat, Manquabat and Ghazal ( Lyric) has published as ” Izhare Haquiquat ” to go through his Izhare Haquiquat it appears that his poetic capability is very attractive and deep. Janab Syed Amin Ahsraf, former reader of English in Muslim University Aligarh has written a very thoughtful review on his book, Izhare Haquiquat and comparing his poerty with the poetry of renowned poets has said in these words

“The creator of Izhare Haquiaquat is desirous of knowledge of reality and eager of observation of allegiance of Mustafa( S.A.W). The heart of Aarif (Holy man) is the corner where there is truth of the universe.

“Shaikh-e-Azam’s”: Naat is free of excess and deficiency and inconsistent imagination; no conflict with shariat (Revealed law) in his Nat and drowned in love of the prophet ” Peace Be Upon Him

“The lyrical poetry of Shaikh has gem of shining sword, tenderness of leaf of flower, well – shaped words and handsome imagination. His Naat and Manquabat (praise of prophet, praise of holy men) are the standard sample of spiritual sway. Izhare Haquiaquat is an exquisite nosegay of poetry and treasury of bounty and benediction.”

The above stated impression of a great-learned man is enough to know the standard of poetic composition of Shaikh-e-Azam. Infact writing Naat is very difficult. For this, such a heart and mind should be which are full of excessive passion for the prophet of Islam. If it is not, then it will be difficult to compose Nat. It is love and emotion for Hazrat Mohammad Mustafa Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam that helps the poet to walk in the desert of Naat. It is also essential that the poet should not exceed to the limitation of Naat otherwise he will go in hell. This is why Orfi Shirazi has said,

“Orfi Mashatab En Rahe Naat Ast Na Sehra
Ahista Row Ke Bar Dame Tegh Ast QuadamRa”

Meaning: Orfil! Don’t run fast as it is the way of Naat not desert;
walk slowly as your step is on the edge of the sword.

In fact, Shaikh-e-Azam has written Nat with full care of its limitation. What he has written, has written drowned in the excessive passion of Hazrat Mohammade Arabi Sal Allaho Alaihe Wa Sallam. One is lost in the world of ecstasy to listen to his Naat particularly from his own tongue. Whatever I have expressed in my review on his Naat is nothing in comparison with the sublimity of his Naat.

Shaikh-e-Azam – A lover and Beggar of Khwaja  

His love and adherence with Khwaja Gharib Nawaz is the most attractive and distinctive factor of his personality. He is not a formal lover of Khwaja Hindalwali. He is proud of this bounty of Hazrat Makhdoom Simnani (R.A.) that he made him reach to the holy shrine of Gharib Nawaz. That is why, he has been attending Urse Gharib Nawaz for the last forty years regularly. As soon as he looks at the beautiful dome of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti (R.A.) he forgets himself and says with tearful eyes:

“Bikcha Do Mere Khwaja Tera Bhikari Aya Hai
Tukron Pe Tere Omr Guzari Tujh Se Bhag Jagaya Hai
Tere Gholam Izhar Ki Aaqua Mang Bhi Ketni Nerali Hai
Tujh Se Mange Tujh Ko Mange Tere Karam Ka Piyasa Hai”

Meaning: ” O Khwaja!! Give me alms; your beggar has come;
I passed my life on your pieces and I have awakened my luck from you.
” How a strange the demand of your slave, Izhar is he demands you from you and is thirsty of your kindness.”

The above couplets of Manquabat indicate his extreme love with Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A). He does not spread his skirt anywhere except at the door of Hindalwali. He presents his annual budget standing at the door just like a distressed beggar and say,” O Khwaja! What you endowed last year, I have spent it all and budget of this year is such and such. His way of demanding from him is just like a Government budget being presented in the assembly. There is no suspicion and wavering in his demand but has firm faith in the bounty of Gharib Nawaz. (R.A) He gets more than his demand. Why not so, Darbare Khwaja is such darbar from where no one returns empty handed provided he is honest and sincere in his demand. In short, Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam has burnt himself in the fire of excessive passion of Khwaja and is insane in his love. He himself accepts it.

“Mai Hun Deewana Tumhara Khwaja
Kiya Karega Zamana Mera Khwaja”

Meaning: O Khwaja! I am your insane What will do world with me.

His Mission at Bhagalpur  

Bhagalpur particularly Machipur has always been the center of attraction for the dignitaries of Khanwadai Ashrafia. AlaHazrat Ashrafi Mian (R.A.) Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Ashraf (R.A.) and Hazrat Maulana Syed Mukhtar Ashraf (R.A) graced this area with their special bounty and blessings. Hazrat Shaikh-e-Azam too has been coming at Machipur and Bhagalpur since his childhood. He rooted out Deobandiat from many villages of Bhagalpur like He has made Machipur his center of propagation of the mission of Makhdoom Simnani. (R.A) He has a large number of disciples in different corner of Bhagalpur. His sincerity, love and affection for this area cannot be expressed in words.

Establishment of Madrasas  

He has established many madrasas in different places and have been patronizing in order to make these Madrasas central place of Sunniat and Ashrafiat. As for example Madrasa Ashrafia Izhar-uloloom Machipur is a famous Madrasa patronized by him and now by Hazrat Maulana Syed Mahmood Ashraf WaliAhad Janashin.
Following Madrasas have been established by him: –

1. Madrasa Mukhtaruloloom chirayya chowk baisi Purnia.
2. Madrasa Ashrafia Izharuloloom Bahadurganj Purnia.
3. Madrasa Ahsrafia Izharuloloom Khushamadpura Maligaon.
4. Madrasa Ashrafia Gulshane Kabir Bhagalpur.
