The Excellence of Iftar:
Sahl bin Sa`ad narrates that our Master Muḥammad sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam said, “People will always remain well as long as they hasten to do Ifṭār.”

The noble Prophet sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam said, “My Ummah (nation) will remain steadfast on my Sunnah as long as they do not wait for the stars to appear for Ifṭār.”

Abu Hurayra radiyAllahu `anh narrated that the Master of Creation sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam said that Allah subḥānahū wa ta`āla said, ‘Amongst My servants, the one hastening to perform Ifṭār are dearer to me.’

`Anas bin Malik radiyAllahu `anh states, “I never saw the beloved Prophet sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam offer the Maghrib prayer before eating Ifṭār, he sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam would first perform Ifṭār, even if it were with a sip of water.”

Abu Hurayra radiyAllahu `anh narrated that our Master sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam warned, “This religion will always remain dominant as long as people hasten to perform Ifṭār since the Jews and Christians delay their Ifṭār.”

Salman Fārsī radiyAllahu `anh narrates that the noble Prophet sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam said, “If anyone serves a fasting Muslim with Iftār, angels will pray for his forgiveness in Ramaḍān and Jibrā`īl will pray for maghfirah (forgiveness) on the night of al-Qadr (Layl al-Qadr).”

Our Master Muḥammad sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam said, “If anyone serves a fasting Muslim with water, Allah subḥānahū wa ta`āla will make him drink water from my pond (Ḥawḍ) and he will not feel thirst till he enters Heaven.”

Salman bin `Amir narrates that the Prophet sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam said, “When you do Ifṭār, do it with a fresh or dry date because it is blessed and if you have neither, then do Ifṭār with water because it purifies.”

`Anas bin Malik radiyAllahu `anh states that our Master sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam used to do Iftār with fresh dates before the (Maghrib) prayer. If fresh dates were not available he sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam would eat a few dry dates instead and if they were not available either, he sal Allahu `alayhi wa sallam would consume a few handfuls of water.

According to a narration, “If anyone serves a person with Ifṭār in Ramadan with ḥalāl (lawful) earnings, the angels will send Durūd upon him every night of Ramaḍān, and Jibrā`īl will perform muṣāfḥa with such a person on Layl al-Qadr (the Night of Qadr). Those who Jibrā`īl shall shake hands with, their eyes will shed tears (due to the fear of Allah) and their hearts will become soft.”
