Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh , We pray this finds everyone well, wrapped in Allah’s mercy and steadfastly traveling the path to eternal felicity, in sha Allah.
The Erudite Scholar Shaykh Wahbi Sulaiman al-Ghawiji from Syria has Passed Away. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May He give him to drink from the Basin of His Prophet (alayhi salat wa salam), that he may never thirst thereafter, and may He enter him into the highest gardens of Paradise! Ameen.
Shaykh Wahbi Sulaiman al-Ghawiji, a righteous, distinguished Syrian Hanafi jurist and scholar of Albanian origin has died. Shaykh Ghawiji was born in 1923,, in Skorda, Albania. He began his religious studies there, but was forced to migrate with his family to Syria, to preserve their lives and religion. In Damascus and Cairo, he studies with some of the leading scholars of the 20th Century, including Imam Muhammad Zahid al-Kawthari, Shaykh Hasan Habannaka, Shaykh Salih Farfour, Shaykh Abu’l Yusr Abidin, and others. He authored many useful works in Hanafi fiqh, aqida, and in defence of mainstream Sunni understanding. He was also very active in dawah in Albania and elsewhere. He was known for his righteousness, excellent character, and deep commitment to the Prophetic sunna, and the balanced and beautiful way of mainstream Islam, which he promoted with balance and beauty. From Allah we come and to him we return. May He make this Sheikh’s grave a wide beautiful garden from the Gardens of Jannah.
