The Green Dome:
The green dome, the mosque and the city are nothing to me without you…
When the full moon arrived, the caller was praised
The earth, the people, the city, their ranks were all raised
From a place full of fever from the chilling cold nights
To the safe asylum of faith and a citadel of lights
Your garden is in fact a piece of Paradise, so true
Where lovers flock in this life to gain proximity to you
The green dome, the mosque and the city are nothing to me without you…
Golden windows, the station where the peace is distributed
Granting forgiveness for the nation and loud voices are muted
The two companions there, residing in the best of homes
Under the shelter of what they say is the most exquisite of domes
But they have no need to ponder upon the colours or design
Because they are being sustained next to Allah’s most beautiful sign
The green dome, the mosque and the city are nothing to me without you…
The pulpit, the niche, the bench and the numerous pillars too
What worth would they have without being close to you?
Please, let them forgive me if they think I’ve said too much
But I can’t describe the feelings, the vision, never mind the touch
The palm trunk, the cemetery, the wives and the family too
Made great with Allah by virtue of who?
The green dome, the mosque and the city are nothing to me without you…
The Prophet, the Messenger, the Beloved, Muhammad the guide
The Master of the sons of Adam, a fact without pride
The one who Allah selected, the light to whom we adhere
I ask Allah to grant us love from you and of you, sincere
Allah sends peace and blessings upon you and His angels do too
I thank Allah for creating you and I ask to be with you
The green dome, the mosque and the city mean so much to me because of you…
